Phyllis Clara Grabo

Phyllis Grenke Anderson Grabo, 85, formerly of Glenview Illinois, died peacefully on September 14, 2020, in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.  She was born Phyllis Grenke on January 28, 1935, in Chicago to Joseph and Clara Grenke. She graduated from Jones Commercial High School in 1952 where she received an accounting certification.  She married Robert Anderson in April of 1956 and moved to Nashville where their first child, Kenneth was born in November of 1957.  They moved back to Chicago the following year.  Their daughter Karen was born in February 1960.  Phyllis was the bookstore manager at Glenbrook South High School from 1978-1999.  She adored her job and the many students that worked for her.  She married Don Grabo in December of 1989.  Over the years, she enjoyed camping, boating, church activities, volunteering, and travel.  A celebration of Phyllis’ life will be held at a future date.

Phyllis is survived by her loving family – Daughter, Karen (Mark) Hurlbut; daughter-in-law, Shelly Mershon (Randy Mershon); brothers: Thomas Grenke and Dick (Eileen) Grenke; grandchildren: Reed and Jacob Anderson, Paul and Trey Hurlbut; stepchildren: Patricia (Robert) Schmitt, Debra (Paul) Busse, the late Steven (Maureen) Grabo; step-grandchildren: Robert (Allison), Brian Schmitt, Eric (Sarah Cross) Schmitt, Kyle, Tyler, and Caitlyn Busse; step-great-grandchildren: Conner, Sawyer, Lillian, River, Rowan, Quinlynn and Harper Schmitt.  Phyllis is preceded in death by her son, Kenneth, and husband of 30 years, Don Grabo.
