Longtime resident and colorful character, “Weird Uncle” Paul C. Byington, 69, passed away on April 18th, 2021 after a short illness in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Paul lived for many years in Durango, Colorado but in recent years had resided in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.
Paul was born on December 21, 1951 in Bethany, Oklahoma to Garth and Ginny Byington. He grew up in Oklahoma City and moved to Irving, Texas (much to his dismay) to finish high school at McArthur High School in Irving.
Paul, known locally, as “Off da Wall Paul” was a writer of comical songs and performed At Snowdown and in local bars in Durango and played lots of “open mic nights” in Oconomowoc. He loved performing and getting a laugh. He based many of his songs on life experience and observations.
He is survived by sister and brother-in-law, Deanna and Bruce Manzer, niece and nephews and brother Keith Byington of La Plata County, CO. He is preceded in death by both his parents and older brother, Garth David Byington. Paul will be missed by many who knew him, but no more than his family.

Paul was a resident in the senior apartment building I manage. He moved in approximately 5 years ago and was well known and liked by many of us. I spoke to Paul very often as he would often watch TV in our Community Room. We shared some interesting stories together. He was a friend and will be missed. RIP Paul.
