On August 25, 1944, God decided to give life to an incredible human being. He blessed the Jones’ family with Patricia Rochelle, eldest daughter of five girls to Randolph and Pauline Jones. She was outgoing, opinionated and even at a young age spoke her mind. Her childhood was pretty tough, but through the trials and tribulations, Ms. Patricia loved life and having fun.

For many years, she was the only child traveling state to state with her parents, finally settling down in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She became a wonderful caretaker to her sisters, when her mother was no longer able.

Patricia graduated from North Division High School, had her first son Troy Hogan at an early age, married Troy Hogan Sr., and through their union had a second son Randy. She built a career working at the Motor Vehicle Department and later decided to change her profession to the medical field, where she worked for many years until her retirement.

Pat was a diva; in every sense of the word. She loved her lounging outfits, with matching heels, wine, jazz and leopard print. When she went out dressed to a tee, she had to have her collar popped. Patricia was also known as Trisha and Pat. You had to be special and given permission to call her Pat, if not she would call you out.

Devoted to her two sons, Troy and Randy, she could be a little tight with her purse strings, but always provided if they needed anything.

Sitting down with family sharing adventures about her mother and father, facing racism during an era where it was not acceptable for a black man and white woman to marry, Patricia held her head high, kept on moving, a testament of her strength.

Patricia loved the Lord with all her heart, giving her life to him many years ago and drew closer to him as her illness progressed.

On Sunday, March 5, 2017, Patricia walked into the arms of our Lord. She is preceded in death by her parents, Randolph and Pauline Jones, and was excited about walking in the loving arms of her beloved mother.

She will forever will be remembered by her loving sons Troy and Randy (Debra), sisters, JJ Harrison, Brenda Wesley, Kelly Womack and Betty Jones, fourteen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, loving partner James Dowell, nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts and many more that loved her.

“Death is nothing at all. It does not count. I have only slipped away into the next room.  Nothing has happened. Everything remains exactly as it was. I am. I, and you are you, and the old life that we lived so fondly together is untouched, unchanged. Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.  Call me by the old familiar name. Speak of me in the easy way in which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me, pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without an effort, without the ghost of a shadow upon it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was. There is absolute and unbroken continuity. What is this death but a negligible accident? Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you, for an interval? Somewhere very near, just around the corner. All is well.”
