Mary E. Siehr, affectionately known as “The Grapevine Lady,” peacefully passed away at the age of 82 after a brief illness on August 23, 2023, at Oconomowoc Summit Hospital.

Mary was born on November 6, 1940, in Milwaukee, WI, to the late Richard Hannon and Grace (Hempel) Hannon. She graduated from St. Pius High School in the class of 1959. In 1960, she married Phil Siehr, and together they welcomed five children into their lives.

Following high school, Mary held various jobs, including positions at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Stein Optical, Shorehaven Retirement Community, and finally, 15 years at Roger’s Hospital. A devoted member of St. Joan of Arc parish, she found great joy in participating in the choir. In recent years, Mary dedicated her time to volunteering at St. Vincent De Paul, providing compassion and support to those in need.

Beyond her roles, Mary, fondly called “Big Mare” by her family, had a love for laughter, rings, cooking, sewing, Diet Pepsi, and pretzels. She enjoyed the Fall season, and was a passionate Green Bay Packers fan, often seen in her Packers sweatshirt, cheering them on. For over 30 years, her true creative passion was crafting unique decor from wild grapevines. She would scout roadsides for the perfect vines to transform into beautiful pieces for her shop.

Mary is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Mary (Phil) Lindemann of Valders, WI; her sons and daughters-in-law, Chuck (Karen) Siehr of Waynesville, OH, and Michael (Jamie) Siehr of Hartford, WI. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Josh (Melissa) Lindemann of Madison, Brittany (Jon) Requejo of Shorewood, Paige (Sam) Rohr of Menomonee Falls, Hannah Siehr of West Carrolton, OH, and Aaron Siehr of Pewaukee, along with Katie (Paul) Jacobs of Springfield, IL. Her great-grandchildren include Nadia and Ida Lindemann of Madison, Arnie and Margot Requejo of Shorewood, Naomi Jacobs of Springfield, IL, and Evelyn Rohr of Menomonee Falls. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, many friends, and cherished companions Mindy, Kathy, Kathy, and Marion.

She was preceded in death by her parents Richard and Grace Hannon, her sister Grace and brother-in-law Joe Mahas, her son Phil Siehr, and her youngest son Andy Siehr.
