Leonard Frederick Timm, 92, passed away March 6, 2022, in Milwaukee WI surrounded by his loving family.  Leonard was born September 18, 1929, in Marinette County WI to Louis and Margaret Timm.  He grew up in Arlington, IL and had very fond memories of his childhood especially having been taught by the nuns at Arlington Grade School. He served in the US Army and later joined his father in the construction business and continued on in partnership with his brother Robert.

He spied his future wife Dorothy (nee Cassidy) across a crowded room, one wink later and that was it for him.  They married in 1955 and had four daughters, Susan Ritter (Charlie), Karen Singer, Paula Timm (Robert), and Lisa Schneider (John).  He was blessed with seven grandchildren, Brian (Perry), Elise, Allison (Nick), Jack, Hayley, Rachel and Catherine and two great-grandsons, Cole and Louis.  He was a devoted husband and father and will be remembered for his gentle and patient nature.

Leonard was a very talented woodworker and creative in so many ways with interests in photography and music.   He loved spending time in his workshop where he made many cherished gifts for his family.  He was an avid sports lover, being a lifelong fan of the Cubs and Packers.  He loved to fish, spend winters in Florida, play golf, and spend time with his family.   He enjoyed many rousing games of Euchre and Phase 10.  He loved caring for his home, yard, feeding, and watching the backyard wildlife.  Leonard was a dog lover and had many loyal companions throughout his life.

Leonard was preceded in death by his parents, brothers John and Robert and sisters Ruth Timm and Lois Bauer and nephews Rick Bauer and John Timm.

In the final months of his life, Leonard was lovingly cared for by the wonderful staff at Layton Terrace; Melissa, Shante and Fred in particular along with all the others who treated him with such kindness and dignity.  James, Russ, and the wonderful nurses from Vitas Hospice supported Leonard and the rest of our family through the final months and days of his life. We will always be grateful for their kindness and compassion.

Life should not be

a journey to the grave

with the intention

of arriving safely

in a pretty

and well-preserved body,

but rather to skid in

broadside

in a cloud of smoke,

thoroughly used up,

totally worn out,

and loudly proclaiming

“Wow!  What a ride!”
