Larry Homer Loar, 78, of Cudahy, WI passed away peacefully on October 22, 2022 after a lengthy battle with Congestive Heart Failure.

Larry was born in Gary, IN, and relocated when he was a teenager to Iron Mountain, MI, a town he loved and visited frequently to spend time with family and friends. He could often be found playing poker while overlooking Six Mile Lake in Felch, MI.

After High School, Larry enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served in Germany building infrastructure until being honorably discharged. Upon returning to Iron Mountain, he became a licensed plumber for his stepfather’s company, Firme Plumbing. Later in life, Larry worked as Supervisor at General Motors in Oak Creek, WI for 20 years where he met his wife of 43 years, Patricia.

Larry was a loving husband and a father of 4 wonderful kids, avid reader, animal and nature lover, a traveler, an active member at United Church of God, and an enthusiast of all things aviation. He attended EAA Airventure in Oshkosh for 53 years sharing his pilot stories and touring airplanes. He often would bring his family and friends with him to share and pass the love of aviation down to the next generation. On long weekends, he would often take his wife, family, or friends for a flight in his Cessna 150 that he lovingly called “Grasshoppair”.

Larry was predeceased by his parents Homer A. Loar, Mayme Marie (Hanson) LaJeunesse, stepfather Joseph LaJeunesse, brother Paul Loar, brother Martin Loar, brother Wayne Loar, stepbrother Joseph LaJeunesse, stepsister Mildred Ann LaJeunesse, stepsister Mary Louise Rossato, stepbrother-in-law Mario Rossato, and stepson Craig Dary.

He is survived by his wife Patricia (Weyenberg) Loar, daughter Jackie (Dana Condray) Loar, daughter Shelley (Ryan) Swanson, son Paul (Lisa) Loar, daughter Shannon (David) Richard, stepson Brian (Mary) Dary, brother Jim LaJeunesse, sister Marie “Sissy” LaJeunesse, stepsister-in-law Sara LaJeunesse, his beloved dog Cotton, and many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

His family would like to thank the many nurses and doctors who dedicated their care and kindness to Larry.
