Kristine Munson (nee Puvogel) passed away peacefully at the age of 80, on May 27th, 2023.

Beloved wife of Charles TE Munson for 56 years. Loving mother of Becky (Steve) and Mike (Diana). Wonderful grandmother to Ethan, Evan, Matt, Francesca, and Alayna. Further loved by many others as a wonderful sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.

Kris was such a strong and resilient person. She contracted polio at the age of three, and as such, faced many physical challenges throughout her life. She met every obstacle head-on and always persevered.

She was so kind, genuine, and friendly. Definitely blessed with the gift of gab. People were drawn to her smile and positive attitude. Spending time with her was always such fun.

Kris was born and raised in Michigan.  She attended Albion College, where she was part of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and was honored as the Sweetheart of Sigma Chi.  Upon graduation, she went on to work as a certified Medical Technologist, and she continued in the field for 40+ years. Primarily working the second shift, she found great satisfaction and purpose in that work. Kris settled with her family in Glen Ellyn, Illinois in 1973 and built a wonderful life there.

Outside of work, Kris loved to golf (2nd best handicap in her league), bowl, garden, read, play bridge, crochet, and work crosswords and jigsaw puzzles. She was happiest when she was “smokin and jokin’” with her family and friends, while enjoying her coffee and cigs!  An avid sports fan her entire life – it didn’t matter if it was a grandchild’s sporting event or a professional team- she was always there cheering for “her team”. She had a particular fondness for the Chicago Bears and Bulls.

She loved getting her nails done. It was always a surprise as to what color or pattern she’d select and who can forget her trademark earmuffs in the colder months!?!

Kris was a bright light- a shining star. She is so loved and will be greatly missed. Reunited with her son Mike in heaven, we know she will continue to watch over us.

Goodbye for now. We love you.

There are no official services being held at this time. The family will be doing a private goodbye.  A Celebration of Life Memorial may be held in the future. Details will follow as they are available.
