Taylor, Karen Sue (Van Brookhoven) passed away Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at the age of 81.
Beloved wife of Joy M. Taylor, Jr., for 62 years. Dear Mother of Joy M. “Marty” Taylor III, Jean Martin (Michael), Irene “Beth” Taylor (Kris), Sister of Lorin Lee Van Brookhoven, she is also survived by 3 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her mother, Irene Van Brookhoven and her father, Eugene Van Brookhoven. Further survived by other relatives and good friends.
Karen enjoyed 17 years of service in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and assisted the Coast Guard with search and rescue missions. She loved being on Lake Michigan boating and enjoying the experience. Karen’s career included 3 years as a Coast Guard Civilian employee and 10 years as Administrator Leader for U.S. Customs and Border Patrol. Some of Karen’s hobbies included taking pictures of her family and friends and watching the Green Bay Packers; GO Pack! Karen had a passion for playing the guitar and loved sharing music with loved ones.
Visitation will be held at 11:00 AM with Services starting at 12:00 PM, on Friday, February 23, 2024, at St. Francis Episcopal Church, N 84 W16525, Menomonee Avenue, Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin. Karen will be laid to rest at Gausdal Lutheran Cemetery in New London, Minnesota on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at 12:00 PM.
