John “Bubba” William Koster, 76, passed away peacefully at Vitas Ruth Hospice House on Good Friday, March 29, 2024. He spent his final days surrounded by the love and laughter of the people he cherished the most. He was born October 20, 1947, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where he resided his entire life.
John graduated from Marquette University in 1969 with a degree in history. He proudly served his country in Vietnam as a medical corpsman, and loved and respected the men he served with. Upon return, he shared his passion for history as a seventh and eighth grade teacher at St. Agnes Grade School in Butler, Wisconsin. Always on the move and looking for a change, John became a manager at several McDonald’s in the Milwaukee and Sheboygan area. He finished his career working many years doing warehouse work.
John leaves behind a legacy of kindness mixed with a wonderful sense of humor that will be remembered by all that had the privilege of knowing and loving him. His passing has left an irreplaceable hole in our hearts. John was preceded in life by his loving parents Marvin and Margaret Koster, his sister Sally Wall, and his brother-in-law Kenneth Wall. He is survived by his sister Sandra Weiss, brother-in-law Russell Weiss, and his very best friends Jennifer Packard and Michael Falkner. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.
John found great joy in making people laugh. His sharp wit and banter will always remain a fond part of our memories. His spirit and joy will surround us for a lifetime.
Per John’s request, there will be no funeral service and we will have a private interment at a later date. We would like to thank the Village at Manor Park, where he resided the last 6 years, for the safety, comfort, and joy he found in living and volunteering there. We would also like to thank Vitas Hospice for providing the care and compassion he received in his final days. Donations to the Alzheimer’s Association would be greatly appreciated. And to those who knew John, remember, “I’m me and you’re not!”.
