Denise Smith passed away peacefully on June 9, 2023, at the age of 64. Denise was born to Louise Hubank and Eligah Hubank on September 6, 1958.
She attended and graduated from Riverside High School in Milwaukee in 1976 where she met husband Michael Smith. They were both seniors when they crossed paths and fell in love with each other. They wed in May of 1980.
Denise was a great and loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. In her youth she had a knack for fashion which she displayed gracefully. She enjoyed her large family, her favorite activity was dancing with her sisters and nieces, and at a moment’s notice. She would groove until the very end, even in a weakened state in the last week of her life in hospice care.
She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is preceded in death by her father, Eligah Hubank, and her brother, Lorenzo Hubank. She leaves to cherish her memories, husband Michael Smith Sr., son, Michael Smith Jr. (Yolanda Smith), grandson Michael Christian Smith, step-granddaughter Christina Victoria Ruiz, sisters: Delores (Jerry) Harris, Chicago IL, Cora Mackey of Sumner MS, Shirley Donley-Brown, Leaser Hubank, Yvette Harris, Cassandra (Earl) Murphy of Milwaukee WI, Victoria Fears (sister-in-law), Murfreesboro TN; brothers: Aubrey (Yvonne) Hubank, Alfonzo Hubank, Dwayne (Mircia) Hubank, Jermain William-Hubank, of Milwaukee, WI, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins ,in-laws and friends.
Visitation at Krause Funeral Home, 7001 West Brown Deer Road, Milwaukee on Friday June 23, 2023, 11:00 AM-1:00 PM. Funeral Service 1:00 PM-2:00 PM.
