Brian Matthias passed away with his family by his side on October 13, 2023. Brian was an extraordinary man, the best husband, and father, and soon to be grandfather. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Matthias (Lenz), his son, Devon Matthias (spouse, Katrina), his daughter, Isabella Matthias, his father, Richard C. Matthias, his grandson Sebastian Matthias, and many other family and friends.
Brian grew up in West Allis and graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1980. Following his 18th birthday, he broke his neck after a diving accident and became a quadriplegic where he spent the next 43 years of his life in a wheelchair. Brian never let his disability define him or stop him from doing everything he dreamed of. After his accident, he went back to school, graduated, and worked for 30 years as a computer analyst. He married Lisa in 1988 and created a beautiful life with two children. He was an extremely supportive husband and father and enjoyed spending quality time with his family.
Brian had a charismatic personality and lit up any room he entered. He loved spending time outdoors by going fishing and camping. Brian enjoyed watching racing and spent time at Road America where he developed relationships with drivers. Brian was a music lover and frequently attended concerts, with some of his favorites including Pearl Jam and Travis. His smile and laugh will continue to brighten rooms with the cherished memories shared from all who knew him, in the years to come. Be at peace Brian – you are loved and missed now, and forever.

I'm trying to think of something funny and as I remember going to races with him and yelled at him for he should have put on a racing hat but instead put the Camo-hat on so when we were walking around the track some people would thank him for his "Service." Well, I just shook my head and he looked at me with a corny animated smile as we continued on. Many years of good friendship for he was a true role model for all of us who think we have problems sometimes and don't see the big picture. I'll see you again once my race is over with and we can laugh about all those races and concerts we pulled through. May God Bless you and your entire family. Love and Peace to all of you. Love Mark
