Gladys Ruth Limehouse (nee Rhodes) Entered into Heaven on Thursday, February 1, 2018, age 73. She was born December 24, 1944 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Vera Rogers and James Rhodes. Loving mother of Mark Leon. Dear sister of Gaynell, Andrea Maria, and the late Vera Linda. Best friend and father of Mark, Leon Limehouse.

She graduated from Wisconsin Lutheran High School with honors in 1963, won first place in the variety show of 1961, showcasing her ability to sing, graduated from UWM with a BA in social work, taught for 38 years, and was a school administrator for 2 years. Her quote below her senior picture read “With a smile on her lips and a song in her heart”.

Gladys gave all of herself to her profession of being a 3rd – 7th grade teacher and educator for 40 years. She believed in ensuring her students not only had a solid academic foundation but also wanted them to excel in life. She gave whatever she could for her students clothing, money, or her time. The years of her heartfelt efforts were not in vain. Throughout my 48 years as her son there have been countless times when I have been approached by people upon hearing my last name. The conversations would consist of asking if I knew a Gladys Limehouse. I always knew how the conversation would go. They would say, “I had Mrs. Limehouse as my teacher and she was my favorite teacher and the best teacher I ever had, she changed my life. I never forgot her.” The first time I was approached was when I was 17 and to this day I continue to hear some variation of the same message.  Her other passion in life was music and singing. People would say,” What a beautiful singing voice she has and how hearing her voice brought them to tears or moved them in a way they never forgot.”  Mom these gifts from God, you used to its fullest, allowing you to make an unforgettable and positive difference in so many lives and in so many ways. I am proud of you, will miss you but and more importantly God is proud of you. I am not sad because of the victory over death that God gave us through Jesus!  Mom you have put on immortality, your life is just beginning and you are home now, singing with the saints, giving glory to God and Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior.
