Stephen G. McCormick (Steve), formerly of Peoria, IL, died Monday, December 19, 2022 in Whitefish Bay, WI surrounded by family.

Steve was born on March 22, 1949 in Peoria, IL, the son of James and Virginia (Ruprecht) McCormick. He is a graduate of Spalding Institute in 1967 and Saint Louis University in 1971. He married Barbara Walton on April 29, 1972 and they spent the next several years traveling the U.S. between Air Force bases in California, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida and Michigan until his active-duty ended in 1975. Steve then served with the Peoria Air National Guard as a fighter pilot with the 182nd Tactical Air Support Group until 1995, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. During this time, Steve also worked for Caterpillar Inc. for over 30 years in the truck and marine engine sales division, retiring in 2009. In retirement, he enjoyed his beloved boat and fishing with friends in “God’s Country” on the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage in Mercer, WI, but also cultivated a love of cooking and would generously share his trademark dishes with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Whitefish Bay, WI; his son, Stephen McCormick (Jennifer) of Louisa, VA; his daughter, Angela Blair-Serrano (Richard) of Glendale, WI; his brothers, Michael McCormick of Peoria, IL and David McCormick (Connie) of Kingsport, TN; his eight grandchildren, Rowan, Anastasia and Eero Blair of Glendale, WI, Victoria and Tucker McCormick of Louisa, VA and Santiago, Luciana and Gabriela Serrano of Glendale, WI. He was preceded in death by both of his parents.

The family is holding a private celebration of life in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and condolences may be sent to the family at 420 East Birch Avenue, Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin 53217.
