Richard Maurice Lepesqueur, OFS
On September 6, 2025, Richard of the Franciscan Secular Order passed away after suffering cardiac arrest. Richard Lepesqueur was only 78 years old. He is survived by his siblings, Raymond and Marie Elena, his two nieces, Michelle and Eloise and two grand nephews.
Richard lived a full life, attending Marquette University and earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1970 and a Masters of Business Administration in 1980. Richard returned to Marquette University as an employee, working from 1999 until his retirement in 2013. In addition to his work at Marquette, Richard also was a CPA and worked as an “enrolled agent” who would accompany a person being audited to help explain the rationale for the tax filing.
Richard was fairly active within the Catholic Church, attending mass regularly and singing tenor in the GESU Parish choir and the Cathedral of St John the Evangelist. He shared his life with his longtime partner, Rosie Nichols, until her death in July 15, 2018. Richard was known for his caustic humor and love of sports. He often teased his older niece about the times he felt Marquette could beat UCONN and had season tickets to the Golden Warrior men’s basketball team. Donations are encouraged for the American Heart Association.
A funeral service is planned in Washington DC in late October. A Franciscan memorial service is planned in November.
