Nan Marie Braun, age 77, passed away in her sleep on Monday, March 30th, 2020. She had been staying in a rehabilitation center, after a fall a few months prior. She was alone at the time, due to the strict quarantine in place, but connected to the hearts of her family who loved her very much.

Nan was an extremely kind, dedicated, and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had so much love for her family and enjoyed seeing her great-grandchildren. She liked simple pleasures;  sewing and cooking for her family. Nan had a strong love for God and was a member of Wauwatosa Presbyterian Church. In church, she liked to “Sing like no one is listening.” Her favorite song was “On Eagle’s Wings”:

“And he will raise you up
On eagle’s wings
There you are
The breath of dawn
Make you to shine like the sun
And hold you in the palm of his hand
You would dwell in the shelter of the lord”

She is survived by her husband, of 54 years, Robert Braun; her son & daughter-in-law, Scott and Karen Braun; her son and & daughter-in-law, Ken and Carissa Braun; her daughter & son-in-law, Christine and David Julius; her grandchildren, Eric, Catherine and husband Julio, Lindsey, Jacob, Zoe and Miles; and her great-grandchildren; Lio and Elise.

A future service for family and friends will be scheduled at Wauwatosa Presbyterian Church, once the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.

Nan and Bob have been wonderful neighbors since we moved into the neighborhood 12 years ago. We live only a few houses from theirs. Nan was such an inspiration to watch her get out on a daily walk when the weather was nice. Her daughter-in-law, Karen would sometimes accompany her, but most often, Nan was on her own. She didn’t let using a walker deter her whatsoever! Our hearts go out to Bob and her family.
