Dear brother of Andrea (John) Feyen, and kind brother-in-law of Mary Thiry. Preceded in death by his parents, William and Althea Thiry, his brother Bill Thiry, his sister Audrey Thiry, and his brother-in-law Jim Rohloff. Further loved by other relatives and friends.
Michael had a great spirit for life with a quick wit and outgoing personality. Michael was a teacher in the Cudahy School District for 27 years, teaching gifted and talented students. After retirement, he followed his passion for the arts by creating stainless steel and glass sculptures in collaboration with his husband, winning several awards for their work.
Much of Michael’s creativity for his art was influenced by nature. Michael once said, “The greater part of the inspiration for my sculptures comes as a result of experiences and sensory observations that I find in my own gardens. The twisting of the vines, the visiting birds, the night creatures, the dewy leaves, the fluttering butterflies and the breezes orchestrating the dance of the flowers are only a few of the garden occurrences which constantly activate my imagination and serve as my inspiration.” Many of the works that Michael and Jerry created can be viewed at: www.partners-in-art.com.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please support Leukemia Research at Froedtert & Medical College of Wisconsin in honor of Michael Thiry. This research fund allows clinicians and researchers to continue translational research, which will support more clinical trials to decrease the amount of new cases of Leukemia every year.
