Leo D. Monahan, age 90, of Waukesha, Wisconsin passed away on August 21 after a long battle with cancer. Leo was born to Robert and Audrey Monahan in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Before finishing high school, he enlisted in the Navy as a submariner during the Korean War. He then enlisted in the Army and during his overseas tour he met the love of his life, Rosemarie. They married and returned to the United States where they eventually ended up in Waukesha. He also belonged to the National Guard and worked at Waukesha’s Nike site. In his later years, one of his greatest pleasures was being reunited with the crew of the USS Pickerel, the submarine on which they all served. He stayed connected with his Navy buddies through the USSVI Wisconsin Base. He had a longtime career as a truck driver for Consolidated Freightways. During that time, he was honored to drive the first set of triple trailers into the State of Wisconsin. He also received honors for 2 million Safe Driving Miles. He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Holly and Mariel; four granddaughters: Monique (Brad) Serata, Christina (Jake) Mizelle, Allison Albrecht, and Carolyn Dixon; eight great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Cailyn, Lee, Haedyn, Vinny, Bernadette, Parker, and Asher. He is also survived by his brother Robert (Kathy) Monahan and other family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters.
