Karen J Schmidt passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at the young age of 64. She is survived by her sister Gale (Wyman) Hotchkiss, brother Daryl (Jim) Schmidt, nephew Jason (Dawn) Steffek, niece Tina (Keith) Pohl, four great- nephews, Brady, Nick, Bennett, Brandon and one great- niece, Tori. These five children were her world and they are going to miss her immensely.
In 2007, Karen was diagnosed with breast cancer. She was very brave and battled it and won. A cancer survivor and very proud to be.
Karen loved the great outdoors but mainly the summer months. It didn’t matter how hot and humid it was she would be out there. She was a huge help to her sister with taking care of the flowers and the garden. On the flip side she hated winter, the cold temperatures and she was always freezing. Friends and family would see her all bundled up to brave the bitter cold.
In March of 2018, she broke her hip while entering the hospital for an appointment. Leaving there she went right to rehab for three months. Afterwards, she was never the same. She struggled daily, but still went to her appointments and lived though her pain.
Karen lived the last eleven and a half years in Jackson, with Gale and Wyman. She was happy there and always looked forward to the kids coming to visit.
Karen was taken from us very quickly and way too soon. There is a huge hole in our hearts and we miss her dearly. I find comfort in knowing that she is now pain-free and in heaven with Mom and Dad.
Another angel has received her wings……………….
