Passed away peacefully on February 13, 2018, at age 89. Born in Barron, Wisconsin on December 9, 1928 to the late Nellie (nee Greenwold) and the late Clifford Hindal. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert and grandson Daniel Jeffery. Beloved mother of Laura (Jeff) Kratz and Mark (Sharon) Jeffery. Proud grandmother of Eric (Amy Allen) and Andrew (Amanda Shestokes) Kratz and Steven (Julissa Barreiro) and David Jeffery. Delighted great-grandmother to Janessa Jeffery. She will be further missed by nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Grace grew up on dairy farms near Kenosha and raised champion cattle that she showed at the Wisconsin State Fair. She attended the University of Chicago and then the University of Wisconsin where she earned a degree in journalism. She was a freelance feature writer and a proofreader for various publications before enjoying a second career as an administrator for several social service agencies in Milwaukee. She was an avid gardener, camper, canoeist and cross country skier as well as a proud member of the Sons of Norway. Memorials to the Nature Conservancy of Wisconsin are appreciated. The family will gather to celebrate her life later this year.
The family is grateful to her kind and attentive Brookfield neighbors, the staff and residents of Tudor Oaks, and the Zilber Family Hospice for their care and support.
