Gail Dropp (née Sherwin, Linzenmeyer), of Waukesha, WI passed away June 8, 2026 at the age of 72.

Born in 1954 in Milwaukee to Raymond (Ray) Sherwin & Patricia (Schwab), Gail lived a life centered on family, friendship, laughter, and community. She was known for her quick sense of humor, welcoming home, and ability to make people feel comfortable the moment they walked through the door.

Gail’s career reflected both her strong work ethic and her ability to connect with people. Over the years, she worked as a waitress alongside her mother and sister, a career in human resources which lead her to a hospital setting— a tie-in to later positions with the Visiting Nurses Association as well as hospital pharmacies. The most fun might have been her time as a travel agent, or perhaps as a mother or housewife!  Ironically, shorter stints in retail lead her to both her husband Edward (Ed, Eddie) as well as her former husband Earl.  No matter the job, she always had a story to tell and usually a joke to go with it.

She enjoyed up-keeping a beautiful garden to attract many species of birds, going out to dinner & a movie with neighbors, traveling, playing games (shoutout to the Yvonne Street Bunko gals!), and spending time with family and friends, these were a few of her favorite things.  Gail loved staying active through running and later bike riding trails throughout Wisconsin. She was also a legendary lover of desserts and chocolate — essentially a shopaholic for sweets, although she genuinely loved shopping too.

Her love of shopping also made her an incredibly thoughtful gift giver. Gail always seemed to know exactly what someone would love, and she took great joy in finding the perfect present — preferably at a great bargain. She proudly inherited her talent for finding a good deal from her father, “Crazy Ray”.

Gail seemed to know everyone. It was nearly impossible to get through a trip to the grocery store, a day at the State Fair, or a Brewers game without her running into someone she knew from church, work, school, or somewhere else along the way. She never met a stranger for long.

Throughout many illnesses and surgeries over the years, Gail faced challenges with determination and humor. She often joked that she and her husband should have a hospital wing named after them considering how much time they spent there. Even during difficult times, she kept her sense of humor and never let life’s setbacks keep her from enjoying time with the people she loved.

A special thank you to the staff and residents of Sunrise Terrace assisted living and memory care facility where Gail spent her final years enjoying the scenic outlook of deer & turkeys in the backyard, expressing her creativity in coloring and art projects, and building a sense of community with residents and staff with her signature sense of humor and engaging personality.

Above all, Gail will be remembered for her warmth, resilience, laughter, and the love she gave so freely to her family and friends.

Gail is survived by her husband Ed Dropp, children Michael Linzenmeyer & Megan Usta, as well as stepdaughters: Stephanie Glaeske, Katie Gross & Beth Dropp.  She is also survived by her previous husband Earl Linzenmeyer and his extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents Pat & Ray Sherwin, sister Linda Sherwin, beloved aunt & uncle Mildred & George Scholl.

A service will be held at St. Williams Catholic Church, 440 North Moreland Blvd, Waukesha, Wisconsin on Friday, September 4, 2026 with an 11:00 AM greeting followed by a Noon service and luncheon to follow.

Gail will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
