Doris Bauer-Martin, 92, a resident of Luther Manor Retirement Community in Wauwatosa, WI, went to be with her Savior early in the morning on June 4, 2019.

She was born to the late Anna J. (List) and Eugene W. Linse on April 23, 1927, in a farmhouse near Modena, WI.  Doris graduated from Augusta High School, Augusta, WI and received a degree in Home Economics and Journalism from Northwestern University in 1948. Following college, she worked for the Quaker Oats company in their marketing department.  After many years caring for her family, she piloted a Special Education program for the South Holland, IL, school district and went on to get her master’s degree from Chicago State in Special Education while teaching and spending summers teaching reading at Camp Buckskin, Ely, MN.  Upon retiring from 25 years of teaching, Doris spent many years with Discovery Toys and selling southwestern turquoise jewelry.

Doris was married to the late Luther Bauer from 1951-1973, and married the late Marion Martin in 1998. She was blessed with and survived by four children: Jon (Dianne) Bauer of Miramar Beach, FL; Julie (Randy) Weyhrich of Milwaukee, WI; Constance (George) Manno of Park Forest, IL; and Richard (Denise) Bauer of Litchfield Park, AZ.

Doris is also survived by twelve grandchildren: Jason (Lara Sherefkin) Bauer, Melissa (Megan) Bauer, Aaron (Samantha) Weyhrich, Megan (Shannah) Erath, Anna (Jacob) Diers, Caleb Weyhrich, Kristen (Moshe) Webster, Tammy (Michael) Velthoven, Betsy (Matthew) Vandrush-Borgacz, Adam (Heather) Osantowski, Philip Manno, and Corinne (Luke) Kautzman.  Doris knew and enjoyed her nine great- grandchildren: Andrew Vandrush-Borgacz, Grace, William, and Charles Velthoven, Austin and Wesley Kautzman, Harrison and Delaney Diers, and Grace Weyhrich, and eagerly anticipated the arrival of two more great- grandchildren this summer. Doris loved her Havre, MT Martin granddaughters as well-Clarissa and Jackie Martin. She is  survived by her sister, Charlotte Peapenburg of Peoria, AZ, and sister-in-law, Lois Linse of Fall Creek, WI, and by so many beloved relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Marion R. Martin in 2009,  her brothers, H. Frederic Linse and Eugene W. Linse, sister-in-law, Barbara Linse, brother-in-law, Pete Peapenburg, and daughter-in-law, Sue Bauer.

Doris loved her Lord and was actively involved in her church – choir, Sunday School, VBS, Bible Study leader, LWML, Voice of Care board member, and wherever a need could use her talents.  She enjoyed people and relationships; she was a letter writer sending letters and cards on a regular basis to friends and loved ones from all over.

She loved to bake and sew, read, cross stitch and knit, play Tic and Rummy games, travel and drive, talk and smile and be surrounded by family and friends.
