Jane Geurts, a beloved teacher, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Monday, April 24, 2023, at the age of 76. She was born in Battle Creek, Michigan, and spent her childhood in Crawfordsville, Indiana, until her senior year of high school when she moved to Ohio. In her mid-twenties, she settled in Green Bay, Wisconsin, where she spent the rest of her life raising her family and building her career as a passionate educator who dedicated her life to teaching.

Jane began her teaching career in the mid-1970’s and taught for five years before taking time off to raise her children and help her second husband start a successful chemical company. After several years, she returned to teaching and continued her career for another 27 years. She was an inspiration to countless students and colleagues throughout her career and will always be remembered for her unwavering dedication to education and her kind and patient nature.

Throughout her life, Jane was an active member of the Service League, a volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of those in the community. She gave generously of her time and energy, and her contributions to the Service League were greatly appreciated by all who benefited from their work. Her commitment to service was an inspiration to everyone who knew her, and her legacy of compassion and kindness will live on in the community.

Jane is survived by her children Melinda (spouse Tom Shallow), Bill (spouse Kari Compton and their children Cayden, Makenna, Brylee, and Teagan), Jim (spouse Nicole Perow and their daughter Sophia), as well as her sister Susan (spouse John Measamer). She was a devoted mother who always put her family first and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her family and community service, Jane had many interests, including needlework, music, fine dining, and movies, especially Disney films. She also had a sweet tooth and a particular fondness for Jujyfruits. Jane was always ready to share a treat and put a smile on someone’s face.

A private family service was held to celebrate Jane’s life, and her family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a local school or educational foundation in her honor. Jane’s memory will always be cherished by those who knew and loved her.
