Helen Jean Kannass of Estero, Florida passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, age 92.   Helen was born February 4, 1925 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the only child of the late George and Elsie Young.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert F. Kannass (1968) and  daughter, Diane Lynn Kroeger (2011). Helen leaves behind to cherish her memory, her son, Robert N.  (Nancy) of Waukesha, Wisconsin and her daughter, Cheryl (Todd) Strackbein of Naples, Florida.  She is also the loving grandmother of thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.  Further survived by son-in-law Dan Kroeger,  many relatives and friends.

Growing up in Wisconsin, she was a devout member of the Wisconsin Lutheran Synod. She graciously gave her time and talents to the church, where she sang in the choir.  Helen belonged to the Grace Lutheran Church faith community in Naples, Florida.

She was a gifted seamstress who enjoyed sewing. This passion ultimately led to a career with Minnesota Fabrics and Hancock Fabrics.

Helen moved to southern Florida in 1993 and lived with daughter Cheryl and family for many wonderful years. As her care needs increased, Helen became a resident of the Life Care Center of Estero. The family would like to thank both residents and staff for their  friendship, and loving dedicated  care over the past 13 years.

A memorial service in Naples is pending.

Helen will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband Robert, in Pinelawn Memorial Park, 10700 West Capitol Drive, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Visitation at Pinelawn Chapel of the Pines, on Friday, June 16, 2017 from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM.  Funeral Service 12:00 PM. Burial to follow.
