Payne, Christine T.

Entered into Heaven on Monday, December 30, 2019 at age 71. Dear sister of Thomas Jr. (Nancy), Michael (Bridget), Steven Sr. (Jaclyn) and David.  Proud aunt of Angela (fiancé Anthony Asman), Andrea (Thomas) Roethke, Steven Jr. (Emily), David (Megan), Brian (Dawn), John, Dylan, Christopher and Jesse.  Proud great-aunt of Linnea, Greta Roethke, Eleanore, William Roethke and Alexander.  Further loved by other relatives and friends.  Preceded in death by parents Thomas Sr. and Rosemary (nee Teats) and infant sister Kathleen.

Christine was born April 6, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan and later moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1964.  She graduated from Rufus King High School in 1966.  She attended the University of Oshkosh before joining the Shiloh Ministry.  Christine was a devout Christian and served the Lord by spreading the word of His love and grace.  She was happiest when serving in Florida and Oregon as a member of Shiloh.  She enjoyed music and art and freely shared her talents of painting, stitchery and ceramics.  Her life was forever changed by polio as a young child.  Christine was brave and strong despite her physical challenges.  She was an advocate for the rights and independence of the disabled.

A special “thank-you” to Sunrise Care Center, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, her home for almost eight years.

In lieu of flowers, please do something kind for another.  Contributions to the Post-Polio Resource Group of Southeastern Wisconsin appreciated.

Private inurnment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan.
