Watching a show with the topic of connecting family and thought to call you not knowing you've gone home to be with the Lord. God placed me in your life to connect you with your sister and I'm thankful I was able to add that final piece to your life puzzle. Rest easy my friend

RIP Doreen. You were always wonderful to talk to. When I would visit my grandparents as a kid, I used to love to climb up and peek over the fence so I could see all your dogs!

To my great Aunt Reenie, thank you for being a part of my already rather small family. I wish had gotten to visit you more than I did, but seeing you when I got to was such a joy and your kindness and wonderful personality really added to that. There’s so many memories. Riding the bus to the mall, playing scrabble, watching the price is right every morning, sleeping in your bed with all the dogs, letting me eat as much cool whip as I wanted. I’m so grateful for the time I had with you. Give my Dusty a squeeze. Rest easy now. I love you.

No matter how long it had been since I last visited, you greeted me with hugs and kisses and smiles and so much love. From the moment that you entered our lives, it was an absolute joy and source of comfort to get to know you. I certainly wish I could have visited you one more time in Milwaukee, I really enjoyed our time together, with the athletic club and introducing us to the Organ Piper Pizza Palace being great highlights, to name a few. The phone calls through the years were a great way to catch up, I always looked forward to your infectious optimism. Even if either of us was going through a problem, knowing we could bring each other joy always helped in the long run. Even though you lived a full life, my heart still feels heavy with you being gone. Thank you for bringing pieces of our family together, Doreen. I'm truly grateful, and I hope that you can rest easy. Sometimes in life, you meet someone that makes you want to be a better person. Reenie was like that, funny and warm, full of good stories and lots of love. She would tell me her husband wanted to come back as one of her pets and I can see that--her dog Jake scored quite a few $35 bags of pig ears for himself. She also loved to tell the story of reconnecting with my mom, her sister, in letters and phone calls after being separated as children long ago. Her calls and letters made my mom's later years less lonely and that was a huge gift. I love you Reenie, save us a place, okay? --jackie
