Patricia was born in St. Louis, Missouri in 1928 but moved with her family as a young child to Chicago, which she always called “home”. That’s where she met John whom she later married in 1949. She graduated from Alvernia High School Chicago. Thanks to her mother, Abigail, Patricia had a love of classical music and books which was part of her makeup, leading her to positions with the Chicago Hild and Skokie Public libraries. Family outings were often camping, bicycle riding, or a Sunday drive to see something new. She even took up golf, though athleticism wasn’t her thing, so she wouldn’t be left out of any outings. Patricia and John traveled extensively in Europe and lived in Ireland for a period of time.
Patricia’s creative side led her to artistic interests. Her writings and reporting were printed in multiple local newspapers in places where she lived including Skokie IL, Palatine IL, Chesterbrook PA, Waterford, Ireland, Northbrook IL, and Alexian Village in Milwaukee. The photographs she took, which she and John printed in their darkroom, displayed a sharp eye for composition. She also could make a professional piece out of anything made of fabric. Her skills ran the gambit from sewing, tailoring, knitting, weaving, and teddy bear making. When it came to card playing, anybody would have a hard time beating her when she and her husband joined forces. The board game Scrabble was a favorite with them. And oh yeah! We’ll always remember her love of anything chocolate.

We were never fortunate enough to meet Patricia, but her daughter, Eleanor, has been a dear friend to our entire family for more than a decade. Patricia must have been a remarkable woman to raise such an exceptional person and dear friend as Eleanor. I know Patricia will be greatly missed.
