Lynn Marie Thompson, age 73, of Milwaukee, passed away peacefully after several years living with dementia, cared for by her devoted husband John Thompson. Born and raised in Milwaukee, Lynn was the middle of three daughters born to Ervin and Valeria Wendzinski. Lynn is survived by her sister Mary Rozumalski, and her sister Julie Humphries is welcoming her to heaven.
On November 3, 1979, Lynn married her husband, John, with whom she shared more than 45 years of love and commitment. Together, they raised two children, Rebecca and Adam, and later welcomed their daughter-in-law, Chelsea, into the family. Their loving marriage was a rare and beautiful gift, cherished by their children as a lasting example of true love and devotion.
Lynn was known for her kindness, compassion, and her strong desire to help others. She had a special gift for soothing upset children and devoted much of her life to caring for them. She ran an in-home family daycare while her own children were young, later beginning a second career as office manager for the Wisconsin Early Autism Project, where she worked for over 20 years. She also taught daycare regulation classes and CPR/First Aid through the Early Education Station. Lynn and John volunteered playing Santa and Mrs. Clause for many years, specializing in events for children with autism and other special needs.
Lynn was a loving, maternal figure to many, treating friends, neighbors, and even strangers, just like family. Her honorary family members turned to her for comfort, encouragement, and laughter. She had a remarkable way of seeing the silver lining in every situation, and even as her dementia progressed, she continued to bring smiles and joy to those around her. She will be deeply missed by her husband John; children Rebecca and Adam; daughter-in-law Chelsea; and by the countless other lives she touched.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025 at St. Vincent Pallotti Parish West at 201 North 76th Street, Milwaukee, WI. Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM, with a Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at St. Adalbert Cemetery at 3801 South 6th Street, Milwaukee, WI.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Elaine’s Hope/Lutheran Home, in Lynn’s memory.
