Linda Sue Newton (Hamell), born January 21st, 1950, passed away peacefully at Mia’s Milwaukee home on June 21, 2017, after bravely battling cancer for over a year.

Her children Mia Newton, Joel Newton, and daughter-in-law Amy Newton were at her side.

Linda had a strong faith in God, this was a great comfort for her to know she would be with her Lord, Jesus Christ.

One of Linda’s greatest joys in life came from spending time with her children Mia, Joel (Amy) and her grandchildren, Cynthia(Mia) and Myles(Joel & Amy).

Linda enjoyed a life full of love for her family and friends. Some of her favorite memories were of time she spent with her sister, Sharon Cowels(Hamell), her brothers Don and David Hamell, and their families. Linda was preceded in death by her parents.

Linda had a very giving heart, which was evident in all aspects of her life. She loved her job as a Certified Nursing Assistant and was dearly loved by the residents and co-workers. Linda retired in March 2017. Linda also enjoyed attending her TOPs group, which became more than a weight loss club, but rather, a family of friends, that she grew to love and cherish. Throughout much of her life, Linda had a great love for cats. Her dear cat Muffin, passed away one week before Linda, no doubt to greet her upon her arrival. Her beloved cat Sugar was at her side when Linda passed away. Throughout her life, Linda enjoyed collecting and displaying many items, such as, baskets, crates, antiques and miniature trinkets. She had a special place in her heart and home for gifts from her family and friends.

Linda was a faithful friend to many, and felt truly blessed to have all of them in her life. Her last few months were filled with cards, calls and visits from near and far, which meant so much to her.

Linda expressed to her children that she did not wish to have a traditional funeral service. But rather, she wanted an open house, Celebration of Life. She wanted family and friends to gather together to share memories of happy times they shared with her. To honor their Mother’s wishes, her children will hold a Celebration of Life in Plum City at their family church, as well as in Fond du lac, where she had lived for the past 21 years.

Linda’s children, Mia, Joel (Amy) and her grandchildren Cynthia and Myles would like to thank everyone for their support and prayers.
