Born to eternal life on Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at the age of 87. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years Verna M. Severtson (Atkinson). Loving father of Cherylynn Jacobson, Michael (Linda) Jacobson, George Jacobson, Steve (Julie) Pruitt, Tracy (Randy Clark) Severtson, and Robin (Eric) Wondolkowski. Proud grandfather of Victor Jacobson, Stephanie Jacobson, Travis Jacobson, Amanda (Mike) McCray, Christopher (Kelly) Severtson, Emily (Joel) Paulino, Ashley (Jared) Rathbun, and Kailey Wondolkowski. Great-grandfather of Michael, Audrie, JoAnne McCray, Amera, Christopher Jr., Matthew Severtson, and Sawyer Rathbun. Dear Brother to Dolores (the late Henry) Schroeder, and Uncle to Rodney Leeseburg, Linda Lien, Judy Halfman. Survived by other friends and relatives.

Leonard was born in North Dakota on December 14, 1932. He was raised in Nevis, Minnesota. He graduated Nevis High School on June 2, 1950. Then he attended college until he served his country in the Air Force from 1952-1959. He then started a career as a semi-driver for 38 years, until he retired from Quality Carriers in 1997. He loved being a semi-driver so much that after he retired he worked part-time for Lakeside Trucking. In 2009 he started doing volunteer work. He was on different committees for St. Catherine’s, worked with St. Vincent de Paul working in the food pantry, doing house visits, etc. He helped out wherever he was needed. He really loved doing volunteer work, but had to stop volunteering in 2015 due to some health issues. Leonard also enjoyed fishing and camping in his home state of Minnesota. Rainy River was one fishing spot he went to a lot with family and friends. He also loved cheering on the Packers especially when they played the Vikings! He loved to give his relatives a hard time about how much better the Packers are! Leonard loved life, family, and friends. He made friends everywhere and anywhere he went because of his gift of “Gab”. He loved telling stories of being on the road.

You will be missed by all of us – we love you!

The Truckers Last Ride

He traveled the roads

In years gone past

A life he chose and

Hoped it would last.

Driving all night

From state to state

Trying to get home

And arriving so late.

He parked his truck now

His engine has stopped

And those who loved him

Their hearts have dropped.

He traveled the country

With a smile of great pride.

Now he is driving the streets of heaven

On the Trucker’s last ride.

May God ride with you

10-4 and goodbye.
