Taubner, Katharina “Kathi” passed away peacefully on Friday, October 14, 2022, at the age of 81. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, Oma (grandmother), and friend. Kathi was born in Retkovci, Yugoslavia (now Croatia) on January 11, 1941, to Magdalena and Paul Beck. She is survived by her two sisters Mary (Carl Woodward) and Toni (Norbert Wieden). Married for 59 years, she dearly missed her husband and lifelong partner Tony Taubner who preceded her in death in 2018. Kathi immigrated to the United States with her mother and sisters in 1956. She and Tony established Cutweld Corporation, a custom steel fabrication business, in 1973. She was a hard worker and had a deep passion for travel. As a lover of nature, she explored numerous national parks and never passed up an opportunity to go hiking. She was never short of a story, and shared many European traditions and foods with her family. Her grandchildren will remember her whenever they play Scrabble, eat palatschinken (Austrian crepes), make “bang-bang” chicken, and bake brie at family gatherings.

Kathi was a proud mother of three sons, Tony (Cindy), Paul (Colleen), and Greg (Lisa). Loved and cherished Oma to her grandchildren Tylor, Alisha (Mario Lisbona), Abigail Ryan Kursel), Megan (Scott Carey), Nicole, Victoria, Danielle (Joe Hau), Kalan, Cassandra, Elizabeth, and Shaye. She was eagerly awaiting the title of “Great-Oma” with three great-grandchildren on the way.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Holy Hill Catholic Church, 1525 Carmel Road, Hubertus, WI 53033, www.holyhill.com
