Kallie Renae Liebherr, beloved daughter, granddaughter, niece, cousin, and friend passed away while in hospice care at the age of 25. She was born with a conquering spirit at Children’s Hospital in Wauwatosa. Straight away she was classified as special needs, and special indeed, taking what gifts God gave her and spreading joy and love upon all….and yep …we needed her.
Her Father Richard Liebherr and Mother Maria Liebherr (nee Giese) would not trade her for all the world could offer. She was special enough that even the grocery store and Menard’s employees would inquire about her if she was not shadowing during a shopping trip.
Kallie loved God with all her heart, and clearly it was the purity of God reflected through Kallie that touched so many. By his grace she overcame a birth prognosis of being ventilator dependent for life… to miraculously breathing, walking, talking, and eating on her own for 20+ years. Oh, how she loved to sing, even while enduring hardship, against which she was a warrior extraordinaire. She was known by many as the Sound of Music girl. Her endless courage, compassion, hugs, and similar giftings will forever live in the hearts of those she encountered on her journey.
Whereas she will be greatly missed, we hold onto our faith in the atoning blood of Jesus Christ, that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. She now sings in Heaven, and by faith we will see her again.
The family wishes to extend buckets and buckets of sincere gratitude to all of her family, nurses, doctors, friends, and everyone else who took a minute out of their day to bend down to Kallie’s level of understanding and like the song of the little drummer boy, share what humble gifts they had to offer her. Each gift you shared for sure gave Kallie strength and brightened her days.
Gifts are not requested, but for any so inclined, please consider donating in her honor to A.C.A.P of Waukesha, WI (Adaptive Community Approach Program)….a daycare program devoted to brightening the lives of those with special needs.
