Germantown High School Teacher

ALS took Jim too soon. Survived by his best friend Susan Bisswurm who he met at a Nerd party 38 years ago on his 27th birthday.  Together they had many adventures and raised two fantastic kids Drew and Megan Moore.  Son of late Gerald and Juanita Moore and brother of Michael (deceased).  Survived by stepmother Marlene Moore, siblings Linda Moore, Bob Moore (Marianne), Debbie Krueger (Alvin) and nephews Jason, Todd, TJ, Chris, Geoff, Kyle and extended family.

Jim was born in the town of Ladysmith, Wisconsin and over the years lived in Bruce, Wisconsin, Menominee, Michigan and Berlin, Wisconsin before moving to Milwaukee to go to school at UW-Milwaukee. His love of nature and outdoor activities grew while working at the UW Outing Center, teaching XC Skiing and working at Rainbow Jersey.

Jim loved the silent sports especially XC skiing, biking and hiking. His last hikes were taken riding his motorized wheelchair.

Jim taught Biology, Environmental Science, Intro to Physical Science along with other science courses at Germantown High School. His passion for science, environmental issues and nature spilled into his classroom.  “Science is not right or wrong.  It is not your opinion or beliefs.  It is a description of what Reality is”

Jim’s nickname “Fuzzy” came from wearing a “fuzzy” coat in 8th grade – the nickname stuck for the rest of his life and many to this day don’t know his real name – well now you do!

Special thanks to family, friends, teachers and students who took this difficult journey with Jim. Thanks to Dr Barkhaus & his team, Mary at ALS Association – WI Chapter, the ALS Loan Closet for all the medical equipment, Compassionate Care Hospice & Synergy LTC.

To his GHS students – please make Mr. Moore proud!

In lieu of flowers please make donations in memory of Jim to the ALS Association – Wisconsin Chapter,
