Campbell, James Lee, Sr.

Entered eternal rest on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, age 78. He is survived by his much-loved wife of 60 years, Lady A. Campbell, brother Tom, children James Jr. (Georgina) and Veronica and grandchildren Arianna, Nicholas, Nathan, and Marco.

James Sr. was a retired professor of English and a former professional musician. He was a published author and ran a lecture series at Webster’s Books from 1991 to 1993 offering over 40 popular lectures on a wide variety of great books.

He will be remembered as an aficionado of the printed word who collected books his entire adult life, inspiring generations of students with respect and enthusiasm for reading and learning.

Above all, he dedicated his later years to creating wacky, creative and adventurous days with his grandchildren, who often refused to go home when playtime was over.
