“Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.” -Romans 12:12

Grace is remembered most of all for her unshakable faith in Christ, which, from a young age, shaped her values, guided her decisions, and became the foundation on which she built her life. She found joy in serving her family, tending her garden, appreciating flowers, sewing and knitting, traveling to new places, completing jigsaw puzzles, sending cards, celebrating her favorite holidays, and loving her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Anyone who visited her ended up meeting her whole family through the photos that she would show them while they were there. In the last 2 decades, her dry sense of humor has kept her family laughing through every holiday and family gathering, so much so that her grandchildren started to document her “Grandma Quotes”, now a treasure of their family history that will keep them laughing for years to come.

Along with meeting her Savior, Jesus, her reward upon leaving this life was her long-awaited reunion with her husband, Bob, her sister, Alice, her parents, family, and friends that had gone before. Her legacy of faith will continue with her family here: daughters Karen (Jim) Salewski and Debbie (Paul) Dettmann; grandchildren Kim (Luis) Almeida, Kyle (Kelly) Salewski, Kraig Pearson, and Karly (Drew) Falkenburg; great-grandchildren Grace and Claire Almeida, Theo Salewski, and soon-to-arrive baby girl Falkenburg.

The nurses, caregivers, staff, and residents at Heritage Senior Living-Elm Grove also became like family to Grace during the past 5 years, kindly helping the family navigate through injury, rehabilitation, dementia, and daily living for which they will be forever grateful. Additionally, the gentleness and care given by Brighton Hospice during Grace’s last two weeks consoled her family, knowing she was comfortable and calm in her final days, a reassurance they will always treasure.

“God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain.” -Revelation 21:4
