Eva Mae Prince (Foster), age 90, passed to her eternal rest on Tuesday, August 13, 2024. She was born in Holmes County, MS on August 29, 1933, to the late Kennedy and Katherine Foster, Sr. She was married to Robert Prince for 68 years (June 23, 1956).
Eva graduated from high school in Greenwood, MS. After graduation, she attended Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, MS for two years. Later she received a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) Helen Bader School of Social Welfare.
After leaving Mississippi Valley State University, Eva relocated to Milwaukee, WI where she worked as a nursing assistant before marrying her high school sweetheart, Robert. After marriage, Eva became a full-time homemaker while raising the children who resulted from this union: Gregory, Valerie, Clifford, and Phillip Jeffrey who died five days after birth.
Eva was a meticulous homemaker who kept an impeccable household. Having accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior at an early age, she sang gospel songs while working around the house. Her favorite song to sing included, “I’ll Fly Away”.
Eva instilled the value of a higher education and the arts in her children. Each child was expected to attend a university after high graduation. All three children attended college and pursued degrees. While growing up her children participated in music lessons (piano, violin, trumpet) and took ballet/modern dance lessons.
After raising her children, Eva worked with various preschool education organizations. As a preschool educator, she helped children develop social, emotional, cognitive, language, and physical skills. She also planned and carried out curricula focused on different areas of child development.
Preceding Eva in death are her parents Kennedy and Kate Foster, Sr.; brothers Emerson, Albert, Jimmie, Edward; sisters Claudette, Phedosha, and Josephine; and infant son Phillip Jeffrey.
