Daniel Lee "Dan" Hochrein

Fond du Lac – Dan “Hooker” Hochrein, 68, of Fond du Lac, passed away on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at home surrounded by loved ones.

He was born on June 6, 1953, in Fond du Lac, the son of Cletus and Edna Schneider Hochrein.  Dan worked as a sorter and driver at UPS for many years. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. Dan enjoyed bowling, golfing, shooting darts, riding his Harley, running the trails on his ATV, and drinking his beloved Mountain Dew.  He was known for bringing his homemade goodies to friends and family just to bring a smile to their faces.  He was a man who would be the first to help others who were in need.  He could be tough as nails when he needed to be but he was always kind in heart.

He is survived by his daughter Nicole (Kevin) Barnes, his son Alex Hochrein, his grandchildren Carter and Parker Barnes, and his sister Diane Hochrein. He is further survived by other relatives and close family friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents.  In true Hooker fashion, Dan just wanted a simple cremation and a gathering for his family and friends.

A celebration of Dan’s life will take place on Saturday, October 9, 2021, from 1:00 PM– 4:00 PM at Parkway Lanes, 509 North Park Avenue, Fond du Lac, WI 54935.  Come join us for food, drinks, and a little fun bowling.  We will celebrate Dan just the way he wanted us to, enjoying one of his favorite past times and gathering together.
