Archie George Morris Jr., 73 years of age, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Milwaukee, WI.

Archie was born on September 1, 1945, in Muskogee, Oklahoma to the late, beloved Archie G. Morris, Sr. (deceased June 1958) and his surviving, beautiful mother, Helen Higgins. He was eldest of ten children.

Archie received his formal education in Milwaukee from 9th Street Elementary, Roosevelt Middle School and graduated from North Division High School in 1961.

Archie was a proud, hard-working, honest man and father. His work ethic was incomparable. He worked for the Milwaukee County Parks system for over 20 years. He worked at General Motors Corporation, later known as Delphi Automotive Systems and AC Delco, for over 30 years. He was part of the Auto Workers Union throughout. He always said, “You are only as good as your word,” looking over his glasses.

Archie truly lived life to the fullest through the simple pleasures such as laughing and hanging with his friends, enjoying a glass of Jack Daniels, and listening to blues and smooth jazz. He loved his family dearly and his favorite thing was traveling back home to Oklahoma.

Archie was a character. It’s hard to put into words just how charming and funny he was. He was an expert ice skater and an avid fisherman. One fond memory was a trip to Greenville for the Mississippi Blues Festival. After dropping Rose and Sara off, Archie and Damon went to park the car. They had to walk across several ditches and one got the best of Arch. He fell, Damon reached his hand back to help, saying, “You okay, Unc?” Archie, looking over his glasses again, said, “Hell naw.” Then Archie paused for a few seconds and said, “Physically I’m fine. It’s my EGO that’s hurt.”

Archie was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, Maxine Morris. During their union they had three loving daughters: Denise Morris, Shawn Morris, and Stephanie Morris. He also has another loving daughter, Marie Wesley.

Archie leaves many to cherish his loving memory: Helen Higgins, his mother (Theodore), and his 9 siblings, including Larry Morris, Donald Morris, Sara Morris, preceded in death by Brion Morris (deceased May 6, 2010), Edwin Morris, James Morris, Doris Jackson (Eric), Susan Yvonne Griffin (Darryl), and Karen Holland. He is survived by his aunt Irene DeJear and his nephew Cardale Morris (Bridget). He also leaves 13 grandchildren (Denise) Tacora Lockheart, James Morris, Donovan Morris, Keaira Morris (Shawn) LashareeMcKinney, Taria McKinney, Amber McKinney, Mack McKinney Jr. (Marie) Kennetha Wesley-Spear, Terrance Williams Jr. (Stephanie) Deloache Tucker, Dorale Alexander, and Donald Hardiman Jr. Archie has 16 great- grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and associates.

With special heartfelt acknowledgment to his loving girlfriend, Valerie James and his dear nephew, Damon Morris (Lisa Morris).
